Paint Matters in Wall Graphics

More and more, customers are asking us to customizing their interior spaces with wall murals. This is a cost-effective solution, not to mention much, much easier to install and remove than traditional wallpaper.

But the single-most important step in the process is a discussion about the paint used on the target surface. These days, paints that are low in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are the most commonly available in the market place. While these are great for the environment, they aren’t so great for installation of wall graphics. And because paint formulas are a trade secret to each company, it is impossible to create an across-the-board solution.

If you don’t know if the paint on your surface is low-VOC, contains Teflon or is a paint+primer, we will require testing. At this test, we will clean a section of the wall, then apply a small piece of vinyl. After 15 minutes (or less), we will know if our standard application will work, or if other avenues must be investigated.
